Shoka-Kai San Diego

Shoka-kai San Diego was founded by Mrs. Shoka Narimatsu in 1998 to promote Sogetsu ikebana education and to nourish the creativity of advanced students who are training to become teachers. The name of the group derives from Mrs. Narimatsu’s Sogetsu flower name, ‘‘Shoka”, is a beautiful pond flower, and the word “kai “means meaning “group” or “association”. Mrs. Kika Shibata, Sogetsu North America West Coordinator, became an assistant to her mother and is now the president of Ikebana Shoka-Kai which has various branches in California.
